Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Hello!
I recently bought an Atmel ATmega328 from SparkFun, and I mistakenly bought the one with no bootloader (I am making the "Primer-Build an Arduino" breadboard Arduino clone from Make: Vol. 25). Is there an easy way to burn the bootloader? Failing that, is there a service that will burn these microcontrollers?

Thank you in advance,

I suggest you get yourself a programmer. Some are below 20$ and will pay themselves off quite quickly. Just have a look at the price difference between blank and bootloaded chips.

If you already have an arduino of some sort, google "optiloader" or ArduinoISP.

The kind of service you speak of... if you find it, let us know.

• Upload doesn't work? Do a loop-back test.
• There's absolutely NO excuse for not having an ISP!
• Your AVR needs a brain surgery? Use the online FUSE calculator.
My projects: RGB LED matrix, RGB LED ring, various ATtiny gadgets...
• Microsoft is not the answer. It is the question, and the answer is NO!

If you have an older PC with a parallel port, you can build the parallel port programmer:

I have not tried this, but a friend did and it worked...

Of course, Google and you may find other options.
