Hi,

For a school project i want to create a chessboard like installation which reacts to movement.
I want the the squares, about 1 to 2 inches, to be able to flip open downwards (90degrees) or rotate completely (180degrees). (flip clock style)
Can anyone advice on what kind of (cheap) tiny motor/actuator(read: something that moves) i can use to flip the squares?
They have to be cheap since i'm gonna need a bunch of them.

Grtz,

What you're describing seems very close to flip-dot displays, except for the mid position bit.
