How many choices are there? Bend the pins and solder to the encoder directly,
or hook a connector to the encoder and solder to that.
I can think of others, especially ones that are breadboard friendly. Like i was saying, I was hoping that there was something like the breakout cable at Adafruit but for .05" instead of .1". That would be ideal.
Bourns also ships the encoder with a cable, it's pictured in the datasheet (top pic) and described in the text.http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pdfs/em14.pdf
Digikey doesn't stock the part number that includes the cable. Just getting the equivalent of this cable would be ideal too. Cable type #1 is 6" female to stripped/tinned leads (described under CABLE/CONNECTOR OPTION on page #2).
