I am sad to report that my favourite computer has met an untimely demise. Cupid, a red Toshiba NB305, overheated when the cooling fan stopped working.

That's sad, I lost one once and am still getting over it I've decided not to get to close to them in future, and certainly not to give them names. _____ Rob

I have to name them. Everyone of them has (had) a personality. Zygomorphic, Evil Pig, Dilapidated Puba, Obstinate, ... huh ... I just realized Obstinate still runs. Man that thing is annoying. Poor Cupid doesn't make it two years and Obstinate still runs after ... uh ... many years. I wonder if there is a life-lesson in that?

I don't think you connected the grounds, Dave.

I recently "retired" the S100 system I built in the mid 1990's. I used it to control a model train setup. The DSDD 8 1/2 inch drive finally died. I gave it to a friend who likes to tinker with obsolete electronics. It never had a name!

Ahhh S100, those were the days Such a shame everything is inside the chips these days and there's little need for a bus of that type. ______ Rob
