Who recommends which motor manufacturers based on quality?

I'm looking for a very quiet and durable motor or gear motor.

Does the type of motor matter?  Motors become less durable if they have commutators, or cheap bearings, and especially if they have gears.  What's the application?  Quietness and durability would suggest a hall-sensored BLDC, and a lot of these are high quality engineering items (but not cheap).

One of the best motor manufacturers on the planet, IMHO; just don't expect to get them cheap.

If you want the ultimate in quality find a company that supplies components for either space or medical hardware perhaps?
