I've a Leonardo board, works fine under windows 7 and desktop pc (usb 2). However, on an old acer travelmate c100, running xp tablet pc edition with usb 1 usb ports, the Serial Monitor does not seem to communicate with the board. I can download sketches from the tablet pc, and they run on both machines, and the same by downloading from desktop pc. Is there a problem with the serial monitor and usb1 ports? I get a number of java error messages when I try and send from the monitor. I've been looking for an alternative, free, lightweight, serial port terminal/monitor, but not had much success.
I'm having the same issue with an older Windows XP laptop, using the Leonardo.

I can load sketches. But the Serial Monitor shows nothing. However when I attach it to a newer Windows 7 desktop, the Serial Monitor displays as expected(with the basic Digital Read example code).
Any additional information, or updated link to a relevant topic would be appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT: Solved the problem by updating XP SP2 to Service Pack 3!
