Topic: Problem isntalling drivers for Uno on Windows VISTA (Read 367 times) previous topic - next topic

I have a Arduino Uno and downloaded the software. When i hook up the computer to the arduino uno board, and try to install the drivers per the arduino website. It says to goto device manager and then Ports (COM). However under device manager i cannot find ports. I tried 'show hidden devices' but it still doesnt show up.
Has anyone had this problem with installing uno on Vista and how did you fix it?

The following procedure will help you install the drivers for your Arduino board on Windows:

Go to Device Manager
Right click the Unknown device in Device Manager \ Other Devices
Select Update Driver Software
Select Browse my computer for software
Click Browse button
Select the Drivers folder under the location of your Arduino software installation. (Do not select the FTDI folder inside the Drivers folder)
Click OK
Click Next

Hi ,
Thanks for the procedure on installing drivers on vista. However when i goto device manager i do not even find 'other devices' to proceed to the next step.
