Topic: Connect Laptop wirelessly to Arduino (Read 566 times) previous topic - next topic

I bought an Arduino Wifi shield and Arduino UNO and want to connect my laptop to the Arduino wirelessly. The problem is that i am outdoors and do not have a wlan router close by.

How can i connect the laptop to the arduino wifi without a stationary router?

Depends on your laptop's hardware and the used operating system. Newer WiFi chips can be used as access points under Linux, so your laptop get the needed infrastructure mode supplier.

The current WiFi library and the shields firmware doesn't support ad-hoc network yet.

If you just wanna connect from your laptop to the Arduino wirelessly a bluetooth connection probably is the easier alternative.
