Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Dose anyone know if the new WiFi Shield that came out has WiFi capabilities?

I have it now, but I am unsure as to whether I can turn it on to act as a Soft AP (or something similiar).

I want to connect to my android when I don't have WiFi router around.

I'm trying to demo this for a WiFi direct presentation , so Bluetooth isn't an option here.

Thanks in advance for any help

At least with the current firmware: No, it cannot be a soft AP. My guess is, that the hardware isn't capable to do so, but I haven't checked that. To my knowledge none of the available WiFi shields for the Arduino has this capability. The cheapest and easiest way to get what you want is to buy a micro WiFi router and use the Ethernet shield to connect to.
