If A/C = air conditioning, then no?You either need a high current isolated relay to switch the mains, or else build something that can emulate the remote control, or something that can fool the A/C temperature sensor into thinking that the air temperature is above some threshold.
so this sensor will not do the same job as the remote can do to turn the a/c on ?
An Arduino, an IR LED and a 220 Ohm resistor can be used to send commands to an IR receiver, but you need to know what commands to send. Google "arduino IR sender" for lots of information.
Yes, the sensor does have an IR LED, but it is connected to circuitry that makes it useless for controlling an A/C unit.
