Topic: Equivalent 1N918 (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

Hello,

I am working on a ultrasonic windmeter.
In the schematic a 1N918 diode is used.
This one is not available local.
The internet gives as equivalent the 1N914 the same story not available.

It is a UHF type diode.
What is the best diode to use?

Hope to get a awnser,

Theo

Just your basic silicon signal diode, equiv 1N4148.

Without seeing the schematic, the bet is that ultrasonic windmeter is not using a UHF diode.

dhenry

It will depend on how the diode is used. Generally 1n4148 is a good replacement for it but may not if the diode is used in an application for its unique characteristics.

I would suspect any silicon diode would work, even a 1N4001 type power diode. There is no need for microwave speed in a wind speed circuit. But link to a schematic if you want 100% for sure correct answer under all conditions.  ;)

What on earth does 'unique' even mean?
