Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

My project requires that I display some info outside that has too be read from 20 or more feet away.

I am having a heck of a time finding a transreflective LCD monochrome display with 3/4" (or bigger) characters.  I know they exist -- every time I visit the gas pump I see the perfect thing!

It could be as small as 1x4 but 2x16 would be better.  Serial would be excellent too.

I'd be grateful for any ideas of where to look for such a thing ....

I found one that is a 4 x 1 but digits are .7" so it may be a little too small for you.

Varitronix: VI-415-DP-FH-W
Digi-Key PN: 153-1105-ND  @ $11.18ea
Total footprint is 2.75" x 1.5"

If it will work, it will probably work well with the ICM7211 code I just posted as well.

This one seems to be around 1/2" characters but if you search ebay, there might be some bigger ones. They cost a lot more than the standard ones.

How many characters do you need?
