Topic: detect sound volume (Read 875 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi guys, simple question from someone new to arduino and hardware in general.

I want to have a microphone that detects a sound and inputs to the arduino a number representing the volume of that sound. Doesn't need to be the exact volume in decibels, just a number that will increase the louder the sound is. any tips on how to figure this out?
