I'm sorry I am asking so many questions. I got an Arduino MEGA 2560 for Christmas and was wondering if the motor shield for Arduino uno would work on it.

Probably would.  If you mean the official Arduino Motor Shield R3 (http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoMotorShieldR3) then the answer appears to be Yes.
