It appears that LiquidCrystal_I2C can be configured for 16x4.

True, but it does not correctly deal with the cursor positioning on lines 3 and 4.  Look for FMs "new" LiquidCrystal library.

Wouldn't he have to be using an I2C LCD for that to be of any use?
