i actually open the Stepper.h and stepper.ccp file that is being supplied with the arduino IDE but i dont understand it. could someone be kind enough to clarify it for me.

what im wondering is what does this mean?

it means "The instance variable, not the local variable"

'this->' is a pointer to the object (class instance) that the code is running in.
