Topic: Processing on Windows 7 64 bit (Read 12828 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi, I am trying to create a project to drive motors using my Arduino, a Shield and Processing but when I try and run the sample sketch to find my feet, I get the error "serial does not run in 64 bit mode.", With the errors in the console saying:

"processing.app.SketchException: serial does not run in 64-bit mode.
   at processing.mode.java.runner.Runner.<init>(Runner.java:104)
   at processing.mode.java.JavaMode.handleRun(JavaMode.java:162)
   at processing.mode.java.JavaEditor$19.run(JavaEditor.java:473)
   at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:662)"

If someone could give me a solution to this problem it would be appreciated as I have no 32 bit computers in my house (apart from my Raspberry Pi which won't run it?) and as I am no computer genius if it was in Layman's terms that would also be appreciated!

Which version of Processing did you install? 1.5.1 works fine for me on Win7 on a 64 bit machine.

I am using 2.0 beta 3, I will try 1.5.1 though. I only upgraded because I was doing a tutorial and something came up about an update needed.

Switched to 1.5.1 and it works fine!

I know its an old thread, but I'll leave it here for people who find it on google. If you want to use serial on the 2.0 version, you have to download the 32bit version of processing.
