Hi,
I want to track people around a Table. To do that i want to use RFID technology. My idea is, to put on every edge an RFID reader. The people have a RFID chip in their pocket. The RFID reader should work on a distanc at apprx. 0.5 meters.
Can you tell me, which hardware i should use to do that?
Thank You

The RFID reader should work on a distanc at apprx. 0.5 meters. That is pushing it for most RFID readers. Remember that an RFID reader will not read if two or more tags are in the field at the same time, therefore the people seated round the table have to be separated by at least the reading range of the readers if not twice it. When you have two or more RFID readers separated my less than a meter it reduces the reading range.

Do you have maybe a better idea to handle this problem? Thank You

Is there no RFID reader for multiple reading? There are but they require special tags and so are expensive. If you go for the UHF tags and reader you may be able to read all the tags with one reader the tags are cheap but the reader is very expensive $300 + Do you have maybe a better idea to handle this problem? Not quite sure what the problem is and why it needs a solution like this.

What do you mean? Is there no RFID reader for multiple reading? There are but they require special tags and so are expensive. If you go for the UHF tags and reader you may be able to read all the tags with one reader the tags are cheap but the reader is very expensive $300 + can you give me an example product? So for my case I would need $1200 because i need 4 readers for every edge on the table, right? Do you have maybe a better idea to handle this problem? Not quite sure what the problem is and why it needs a solution like this. I have a digital tabletop system and i want to track the position of the people around the tabletop to make pop-ups for the user on the right place.

I have a digital tabletop system and i want to track the position of the people around the tabletop to make pop-ups for the user on the right place Ok so a multiple tag reader would not do for that as the one reader would read all the tags. I don't think there is a commercial soloution to that. It is close to the RFID sequencer I made last year only with a much larger range. I can't see a soloution involving RFID. How about image recognition or getting them to have bar codes on there lapels.

Another option is to use the mobile phones in their pockets which are bluetooth enabled. Maybe i can track them with four different bluetooth AP. What do you think about that solution?

Hi,
i talked with my peoples and we decided that the best way is rfid for us. And 15cm distance would be okay for us. (Maybe we combine it with bluetooth later)
Do you have a good idea which rfid readers we should use for this solution?

Do you have a good idea which rfid readers we should use for this solution? Well no because I donn't think it will work. I did design RFID readers for several years. Good luck.

If I only use one RFID Reader, then it is possible to read more than one RFID tag, right? (I think so, because i saw a project which dedectes edibles in a fritch) Do you know which RFID Reader i need to do this in a range of 15cm?

Only a very few readers can cope with more than one tag in the field at once. They tend to be expensive so look for one of those first and then see if it has the range.

Do you know some god websites to search for RFID reader? Do they have a special name if there are able to read mot then one RFID tag? They never really write about mubltiple reading...
