Which one of the two is better? i use hcsr04's and they work great. The parallax pings cost $29 and the hcsr04's cost $2.50 on ebay. What is the main reason for the huge price gap? is it because of manufacture quality or are the parallax pings better?

What's better, a Timex or a Rolex? If your intent is to tell what the time is, probably not a whole lot. Your question is kind of philosophical, if they both give the same results, "probably not a whole lot". I'm using the HC-SR04's and quite happy with the results as well. It's a puzzle as to the pricing structure on some of this stuff. Which boils down to whether you want to 'shop around', if you have no time constraint.
