howdy all,

how do I connect / setup an arduino uno r3 with a xbee shield and roving networks rv-xv.

new with this stuff so any help will be great.

The shield only fits properly one way. There should be an outline on the shield that shows the shape of the XBee - the XBee has one pointy end.

Assembling the hardware is easy.

well first of all,
I would like to make a secure connection to the wifly module to my wifi network, thus load the map and be able to ping the device or see the device on my wifi network.

Do you mean:

?

If so, that should be possible. It is with the Arduino WiFi shield.

ARduino uno r3
drrobot xbee shield v1.4
roving networks rn-xv

Looks like it is getting stuck on wifly.begin(); for some reason.

below is my sketch (ok... not a map)
