Topic: Shift in and Shift out... (Read 64 times) previous topic - next topic

I am so fascinated with this and I was able to build two separate circuits about it. One having 8 switches that uses few Arduino pins and another one, lighting up 8 LEDs with few Arduino pins.

I want to setup things in a way where both Shift in and Shift Out can be in the same Arduino. It's like when you press a switch from Shift In, Shift Out will light up a corresponding LED.

Guys, can you please point me in the direction where I can learn this?

You can do that by simply connecting them both to the arduino, using different pins (per reference, shiftIn and shiftOut can work on any pins, as they're not using hardware spi for it) - shift in data, look at it, figure out what (if anything) you need to shift out, and do so.

Data,Lock and Latch can be on any pin as los as they are digital, am I right? hmmm... why isn't this working... back to the drawing board. :)

Yes it is right. If it is not working then post the schematic and the code.
