This question is very basic which is making it hard to find an answer.
I have a few pro mini freeduino's (http://dx.com/p/new-version-pro-mini-atmega328p-microcontroller-board-white-173878
Chip Schematic (I believe): http://elecfreaks.com/store/download/Arduino-Pro-Mini-v12.pdf
I'd like to power with 9v battery. Is there any reason not to just solder straight to the board a 9v wire with the caps to connect direct to the battery?
I've seen these cables connected to the barrels for the uno. Does the uno have some type of protection on the receiving barrel? Is this less of a concern with a 9v battery?
