Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Hey guys.

Just got my first arduino today; I was messing around with it, and was able to upload some simple led flash codes and stuff. I went and installed a few things unrelated (graphics drivers) and reset the computer. I came back to it a few hours later and the uno wasn't listed in any com port or in the device manger at all.

I'm on windows 8 64 bit and arduino 1.5.2.  so I needed to use the Compaq modem workaround in order for it to work in the beginning.. It isn't listed under modems or ports.

Let me know if anyone has any advice..

Thanks,
-Steven

Care to elaborate on what the "Compaq modem workaround" is?

It is a trick to install a modem to use your arduino (due the old-non-signed drivers)

Download the last drivers from the 1.0.4 (not sure about 1.5.x), these are now signed for Windows 8 so no problems smiley
