Topic: Control the speed of a 230VAC fan (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

Hello,
I want to control the speed of a 230VAC fan motor like this:

http://www.systemair.com/RVK-200E2-L1-1ph230V_enus-5762.aspx

I don't really understand what circuits are appropiate for dimming lights and which ones are for motor speed (I don't even know which circuits are for Synchronous or for Asynchronous motors)
I found several information about it on Google and I have found this options

Option1:
http://www.engineersgarage.com/contribution/ambhatt/single-phase-ac-motor-speed-controller?page=1

Do you think this circuit is appropiate and could be adaptated to be controlled by arduino?

Option2:
http://playground.arduino.cc/Code/ACPhaseControl

Option3:
See the next schematich: http://arduino.cc/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=91274.0;attach=14833
I saw the schematich in this post: http://arduino.cc/forum/index.php/topic,91274.15.html
In the post is said that this schematich could be adaptated to work with 230VA

Which option would be appropiate for a fan like that?

Thanks a lot

Well the product description mentions:

The fans can be speed-controlled via a stepless thyristor or a 5-step transformer.

So your options 1 and 2 seem to have the basic theory of what is needed.
