Hi

i'm newb

I'm not sure to understand exactly what i can and can't do with arduino.

i would like  to develop a small project with a LCD display (4x16) in a standalone system.

is it possible with the arduino board or have i to use wiring board ?

cause no computer wired to board !

I've seen that external memory and external display is planned for september and october !!!:

Hej Eric,

as a matter of fact we are complying with the agenda so far. A couple of days ago I posted:

which explains how to control a 16x1 LCD display. To change to 16x4 is almost immediate. On the other hand, about the external memory, we are experimenting in adding an SD memory card to the board. I will come back with a posting to the Tutorial's part of the website as soon as I am done with it.

Yooooo cool.

it's a realy near "asm like" approach for screening on a lcd but exactly what i'm looking for...
in the wiring board, it's quite simple with instructions like this

printMode(DISPLAY);
cursorHome();
displayClear();
print("Wiring-0001");

i do the same with some subroutine.

ohhhh and for the sd memory, i don't look for a so big memory... just able to save a short generativ program of few hundred lines of code.
I think 30ko will be enough...

We are into creating those functions for the LCD here also. There are a bunch of developers all over working like crazy in characterizing sensors for Arduino. However, if you make them, just post them in the forum and we will give you all the credit.
