hi!
first i have to say that your work is great!
i'm a total beginer with electronics and i would like to make a bluetooth version of arduino. i'm stuck on the begining couse of a specific knowledge in electronics. here is the question...
can i made a bluetooth version using serial port version of arduino and just plug the serial-to-bluetooth adapter like this one:
http://www.usbgear.com/computer_cable_details.cfm?sku=USBG-BT-0240&cats=158&catid=158

they say that there is no need to instal something on the serial port side to work. could that be so easy?

yes if you plug that into the serial board you can communicate with arduino from a computer using bluetooth

it's not the full bluetooh protocol but just the cable replacement protocol.

The bluetooth board we had in mind was supposed to take advantage of bluetooth at a deeper level.

but i would say that for 90% of the work this would do.

i had in mind a bluetooth controler for vvvv, so i dont need adittional features...
...so if i'll use it this way i'll see a com port the same way as using the cable? no advanced setup on laptop side?
but that cable replacement is not so cheap, i would like to find other way to do that, maybe to connect standard usb bluetooth on arduino, is that posible?
that would be great!

best,

hi vedran

unfortunately 65 dollars is not that bad. the arduino bluetooth prototype was going to cost more or less like that.

if you want a quick solution that is going to work.. any other option takes a lot more hardware and software work  smiley

if you are sending simple messages you can use very cheap radio transmitters and receivers that are used in gate openers..

i'll write a small article about it one day smiley

hmmm...
then i'll look on the com+bletooth version, after all it's not that expensive when you know that midi kits are around 90 euros + you need midi to usb cable...

thnx

Hi,
I am curious about the status of the bluetooth version of arduino. It is still mentioned on the website, but when reading this thread is seems to be abandoned?

HI it's not abandoned.
I'm about to announce the availability of the board.

the only issue would be finding enough people who want to buy one.

stay tuned

thats great news!

I assume if I have several units they will have unique ids and will be able to send and receive info over bluetooth to the other units?

just send e-mails to everyone...do a preoreder list...
so you can sound how many people would want to buy one...
something like produzioni dal basso.it
http://www.produzionidalbasso.com
it manages the production of small numbers of anything (mostly art, but the concept can be exported)

of course I want one ;-)
