Topic: Parallax USB to Serial (RS-232) Adapter for Arduino Ethernet? (Read 952 times) previous topic - next topic

I have spent years working with the old Parallax BS2 boards, and recently decided to upgrade to the Arduino Uno Ethernet board from Adafruit. (http://www.adafruit.com/products/418)

Being myself and not reading all the material, I did not purchase the recommended "USB FTDI TTL-232 cable - TTL-232R 3.3V" cable to program it. (https://www.adafruit.com/products/70)

I have a Parallax USB to Serial (RS-232) Adapter (http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampModules/tabid/134/txtSearch/28030/List/1/ProductID/378/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2CProductName)
from my old BS2 board, and I am wondering if I can modify that to work with my new Arduino? I am open to stripping and rearranging a standard serial cable if necessary.

I have not spent any time working with serial/USB communication protocols, so this is new to me.

Thank you,
Mike
