I think I'm most of the way there.  I wired the fans up as directed but they run all the time, even if the base connection is disconnected.  I suspect this is due to the grounds being independent and not common.  It worked fine on the breadboard, but in my humidor it's running all the time.

In the humidor +12v and the ground come from daisy chained barrel plugs.  I believe the are in parallel and not series and I'm wondering if that's the problem.

The arduino will regulate the input down to 5v.  The fans will still receive 12v, correct?
