hello,

i have a question - and it is probably a long shot - but a circuit i am building needs a TIP120 transistor to switch a 9v voltage on/off via arduinos digital pins.

i have run out of TIP120's, but found some MJE3055T...

do you think i could make it work?

thank you so much,
ú

Maybe is you check the datasheet on both, you will be able to make a decision, or,, just try it.

The TIP120 has a gain of about 1000 and can pass 5A, the MJE3055 has a gain around 50 and can pass about 10A.  It is unlikely that the MJE305 will fill in for a TIP120, but we would really need to see the schematic, and understand the load conditions to give a reasonable response.
