Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Hi Everyone,
I am starting a project which a part of it will be detecting presence of nearby wifi devices.  After doing some research online, i saw that i am able to set a wireless cards into 'monitor mode' and capture all devices in range (which is exactly what i want to do).

My question is: am i able to do this with the 'Arduino WiFi Shield'? if not, any suggestions?

any input is welcome smiley

Thanks!

Yes, the WiFi shield is able to scan for networks in range.

The radio fitted to the shield is relatively low power though,
hence it does not always find as many access points as for instance, a laptop or smartphone.
