I have interfaced the Arduino to the VS1053 decoder solution from VLSI to create my DIY mp3 player...
It can actually play lossless FLAC at even 1000kbps, but that's pushing the 16mhz Arduino to its limit!
It uses the awesome SdFat library to read from the SD card.....

I have tried to extensively document the creation of it at my blog at

I hope the information will be useful to anyone who is interested in mp3 decoding......

Could you give us the lonk for the breadboard card of the mp3 chipset ?

Thanks

I only have the circuit diagram for the mp3 decoder breakout board made by ic-dev.com.cn. It is attached to this post. The Mp3 chipset  breakout board is itself, bredboardable. A search on ebay for vs1053 will lead you to the sellers of the breakout boards.
BTW MDFly sells the breakout boards for US customers IIRC

As Posturus is no longer with us, is there a cached edition of the posting some where else?

I'm trying to figure out how to playback a flac file, and this appears to be the only place Goggle has indexed that suggests someone has had some sort of success.

Thank you,
