I am working on a project where i am pulling data off 4 different sensors. I have connected each of the sensors to my arduino board with wifi shield. I now want to be able to transmit this data over the internet to my computer. I need to build a GUI to capture this data and display it continuously as it changes. I have no experience in this aspect and would like to know how to go about capturing the data from the internet and what would be the simplest software tool to build the GUI. Any assistance would be appreciated.
If you seriously mean transmit data over the internet, you don't need to build a GUI. You could send the data to some outfit like xively or Grove Streams who re-boadcast it in graphical form, thereby saving you a lot of angst and lessen the security risk.

I would think an updating web page display on your computer would be the most simple approach for data viewing. The web page display can be simple or more polished like below.
Can i know how to stream
