Taking a look at this guy -
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9873

The 5v version says it can "become" a 3.3v one, by cutting a trace or installing a jumper. The 3.3v does NOT say the same, but the comments lead one to believe it is a possibility. Anyone have direct experience with the 3.3v unit and able to confirm it can "become" a 5v part?

Also, using a logic level converter, is it possible to to by one FTDI board and use it with both 3.3v and 5v targets?

Thanks!

With a knife scratch that connection and solder the other like you see in the picture it'll work just fine.
I would recommend you to use 3 pins soldered to that areas and a jumper too, then you can always choose which one you want to use smiley

The ones you get on eBay have a little jumper on them to select the voltage:

Sparkfun customer service says the two parts are complementary; the 3.3v can do 5v, AND the 5v can do 3.3v, depending on jumper/solder configuration.

I do not have either yet, but no reason not to believe them.
