Topic: Why two regulators on Arduino Mega (Read 788 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi
Referring to the Arduino Mega and Arduino Diecimila. I would like to know why two MC33269 Voltage regulators are used in parallel?

They are also different packages. The one is in SOT223 and the other DPACK? What is the rationale behind using to different packages?

Thanks

Same answer as for the power switches. They don't populate both regulators when they build a batch, just one or the other.

Is that true for the Uno also?  Schematic shows two regulators in parallel.

Yes same situation. However new to the Uno board (and mega2560) is that there is a new additonal seperate 3.3vdc regulator to supply 3.3vdc voltage that was formally obtained from the FTDI USB serial converter chip.
