Hi, I managed to pathc avrdude myself (with patches from the japan site) to replace bootloader on my arduino duemilanove (ATmega328P) because I wanted to try adaboot.
Will be great if burning bootloader using ftdi bitbang mode will be supported out of the box within the arduino ide.

Maybe with a collaboration with avrdude developers will be even more great if that feature will be included directly in avrdude and not as a specific patch for arduino ide.

You can have a look at my modified IDE for luminet.
You can select the Arduino board FTDI BitBang out of the IDE then...
