With the help of Mark's code I was able to get a working Bootloader and compile code with the Arduino IDE for the mega1284p controller board.  Sse here: http://BahBots.com

Some docs on how to set this up can be found here: http://bahbots.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=3a17efb84c6070178e7546fb4fe36f27

I was also able to do wireless programming using xBee wireless modules.

Hi, thank you!

Do you use a 20Mhz Crystal or a real 18.432MHZ?

Code: [Select]

arduino_bahbots1284p.build.f_cpu=18432000L

Would you please test upload via ide on 20Mhz pleeeeeeeaaaassseeee!!!!!

Can't get it run... on 16Mhz everything works fine....

If you got it working on 20Mhz, please add some sentences here again....

ChrisS,

I use a 18.432MHz crystal on my board.  I like this frequency because its the fasted speed the AVR supports that is also uart baud friendly.  I can also get exact 1 or 10ms interrupts from an 8bit timer.

If you need a boot loader for a mega1284P at 20MHz take a look here:
http://avr-developers.com/corefiles/index.html

Mark has done a lot of work to make Arduino run on other boards and has also written bootloaders for many of them including mine (http://bahbots.com).

Good luck!
