You are only reading one byte. The ircode variable then should be a byte. The actual value received will be printed. It's those values that you see printed that are the case values.

If you see "got code 0x14" in the serial monitor, then the case statement would read "case 0x14:".

Good Captain the use of:-
Quote
byte ledOn = 'FC0300FF';
Will not work a byte is only 8 bits that is two hex digits. To get 0xFC0300FF into a variable you need either 4 bytes or 2 ints or 1 long int.

He's not called Grumpy Mike for nothing.

You haven't really explained what you are trying to do. Receiving usable IR signals from a remote control is not a trivial task. It appears as though you are in way over your head.

@Mike.. haha, good catch.. don't mind me.. I don't think too much before I post, if you haven't noticed. smiley-grin

@ABC, there's nothing wrong with asking for help..... but when you ask in the same forum, in 4 different areas of the forum....  it's a bit annoying. Especially if I was to answer it here, then in another post (like Grumpy just did not too long ago)... we say basically the same thing.. you're just wasting peoples time now.

Well I don't understand.. if you can build a small wifi car with the Arduino.. how are you having problems with something semi-simple like this? Unless, of course.. you just used somebody elses setup, code.. etc..

But anyways.. you're almost there.. if you got the LED on.. then you're halfway there, try experimenting some.

well my wifi car is verry simple so as far as i can see this is a lil more complicated and for posting this 4 times i did no such thing i had forgot all about my other post and it was only 1 other post not 3. and there are still small things like moving the if statement out of the while that i still dont quite get. i will b the first to admit im not the smartest but i do learn quite fast.

Maybe you're trying to do things backwards.... generally people work on all the examples provided... learning some of the C++ variables and such.

I don't see how this is more complicated... the library is handed to you, with examples.. lol all you do is plug in a receiver and open the serial monitor and you're already halfway done.

Maybe you should take a look at these... read THROUGH them.. they will explain alot of what you're missing... which is the basics.

(I printed this out when I started.. good reference)

(a bit long and too colorful to print out... but definitely worth saving)
