Topic: Ethernet shield clone (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

Hello guys,

I just wanted to ask you if I can pair a genuine Arduino UNO v3 with and Ethernet Shield clone (found some on eBay). A friend told me that I might have some issues regarding the main board (fry the board because of the poor quality of the shield), but I don't really think it would be a problem using a clone.

    What is your opinion ?

Thank you,

Best regards,

Andrei Martin

Probably not a problem.
The art of getting good answers lies in asking good questions.

Your friend needs to read up on electronics. I have never heard of a clone shield that fried an Arduino.

Once in a while you get a board that isn't working, but it's usually just that. No explosions, fire or smoke.

I have 2 ethernet shield clones. Both are from ebay type of place and both are luckily working fine. Yes, some of these shields are poor quality but not all. You do trial and error.
