Are there any NPNs i can use in substitute of the hard to find and overpriced 2N5306 NPN Darlington Transistor?

NTE172  (Seen for $1.95 US) but NTE's are never cheap either.     BC618 ($0.16US at MOUSER)

Both are reasonably close equivalents.

Do you specifically need the 2N5306?

You can get it from MOUSER for $0.09 to $0.23 (Yep, just pennies)  equivalents are actually more costly.

really hard to get them in the UK, so thought id try the MPSA14 (as it seems to do the same job)

you wouldn't happen to know if i can substitute a 2N4125 and 2N5952 Transistor for any here http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/transistors.html
?
