A little necro here.

I found this very useful in the drum project that me and my brother are close to finishing. My question now is; As the arduino uno has a new USB chip, is this still relevant? is a recode of this needed for it to work on arduino Uno? Would the midi signal be faster with the new hardware provided it works? The reason for asking is that we are considering getting a mega to increase input sources to the drum kit, and we would get a uno if it would work, but we already know the duemilanove works. Needless to say, we use linux to interface with the arduino.
