What does it mean "back-timed"? Google got me nothing. "a back-timed suggestion regarding..."

I've never heard of the term either. Maybe if you give us more context it would help. The closest thing to it that comes to my mind is "backdated", which is putting an earlier date than the actual one on a document.

OK I am getting it, after reading the video editing tutorial of some software I have not idea. The sentence was referring to a deadline, let's call it deadline-1. So I guess you back-time the deadline-1 into another deadline-2, which is X days before deadline-1. You have to meet this more aggressive deadline-2 so you turn in your stuff and then others that take your stuff and do some further work turn in the final work before deadline-1. Makes sense now. Thanks dlloyd.

Think of it as positioning the edit point.
In this case it is at the end of the piece.
The software then works out where the start should be to complete the edit.
Often used to make a hole for something to be dropped in when it arrives.

BTW deadlines are measured in seconds not days often.

Thanks everyone! I got a chance to ask the person that used this word today. It meant roughly what I guessed after dlloyd responded.

They don't want to pay the bonus so they change the deadline.......

Changing deadline is a form of shifting targets/goals. That's bullying.

It's #@&$ fraud done through weaseling. But it'd take too much to sue the bastards and they're not worth 20 years in prison.
