Topic: Arduino IDE on WM5? (Read 702 times) previous topic - next topic

Scott Oberlin

Hi guys, I've been using the Arduino Diecimila ( 8-) love it!)for some time now, and am wondering if (since the IDE is written in java) if it is possible to port the IDE to Pocket PC, specifically, Windows Mobile 5.

Well, unfortunately the compiler and assorted tools are not written in java.  They certainly *could* be written in java but nobody had invested the time to do so.  It's just reading and writing files for the most part (and properly interpreting and translating the contents too of course)

It is conceivable (and may already have been done) that the C source to all the avr toolchain could also be compiled for the ARM based pocket PCs, but that is a significant hurdle if not.
