 Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Case #1
By going to search Google "Arduino" and then to the Arduino - Home page
http://www.arduino.cc/
then selecting reference then extended reference
http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Extended
The following functions commands appear.

[Bits and Bytes]
lowByte()
highByte()
bitRead()
bitWrite()
bitSet()
bitClear()
bit()

Case #2
Under Arduino Sketch ver 14 help/reference this links comes up
which does not include the above commands/functions
file:///C:/arduino/arduino-0014-win/arduino-0014/reference/Extended.html

Why are there two sets of references that are not the same?

Sorry, the included reference tends to get a bit out of date.
