Obviously I am a newbee but I am trying to use the graph tutorial and am getting the readings on the serial monitor OK but I want to use the Processing section of the code . I tried commenting out the first part of the code and uncommenting the processing section however I keep getting a compile error of

"error: variable or field 'serialEvent' declared void In function 'void setup()':
 At global scope:

I' m lost here atm and I have done some C programming but this is not clear how I should use this code .

In addition what is the "Max/MSP v5 patch for this example" code? and how do I use this .
Again this is not very clear for a first starter.

You normally shouldn't post the same question in more than one part of the forum - it annoys people and makes it difficult to keep track of answers.

See my response to your question here: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1251347205/4#4
