I don't know if this has been suggested already but an auto update feature for the Arduino Software would be great. Something that automatically checks for an update when the program starts.
C program run. C program crash. C programmer quit.

The program currently connects to the internet (if it is able to) upon startup to check if you have the latest version.

If not then it asks you if you want to visit the arduino.cc site to download it.

I think an auto-update would be tricky due to the nature of the changes in the software and the fact that most people will add their own libraries/core files etc which would cause even more issues trying to auto-update.

It only does this if you have not downloaded the latest version. It no longer does so after you have downloaded the latest version, when you are not running the latest version.
The art of getting good answers lies in asking good questions.
