Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Just trying to get the IDE setup. The first time it runs, it displays the GUI window for the first sketch. When I exit out, it looks clean.

But the second and subsequent attempts to start the IDE fails. It pegs the CPU meter and the memory usage grows without bound, until it hits the limit of a 32 bit address and gives me a:
Segmentation fault

AVR compmiler status show:
avr-gcc -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: avr
Thread model: single
gcc version 4.3.2 (GCC)

Its hard to get much done when I have to reboot the OS.

Thanks

Hi,
which one of the java-runtimes on Ubuntu are you using?
I always use the "sun-java6-...." packages.

Are you running the Ubuntu 32-bit or 64-bit version?

When you start the IDE from the console are there any error-messages?

Does avr-gcc cause the segfault or is this just a guess?
