Hi,

is there a way that arduino/avr-gcc can take advantage of the multiple available core on my machine?

In what way?  Parallel compilation?

Why?  Are you having performance problems?

Mart

well I am close to  126976 byte maximum and I would like to speed up compilation to reduce development time.

I don't think the compliation time is your issue here. Typically, the compliation is done in a second or two. It's the baud rate that limits the the upload speed which you couldn't do too much about.

How long does a Verify take?  Versus, how long does an Upload take?

Have you looked at alternative bootloaders?

Have you looked at alternative boards (like a Teensy)?
