Is there anyone else who also wants a Dutch sub-forum?
Sorry God members, I'm an atheist.

Hi doublet,

There was a discussion about this a while back.

http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1259874358

What is your reason for wanting a Dutch sub-forum?
Not that i have any 'authority' in this case but my opinion is that it would not be good for the community as a whole.

Jeroen

When I search on the forum, everybody suggests e-shops or shops in the USA (radio shack and so on). I'd also like to communicate in my own language. My English is good, but not very good. And I saw already some other Belgian and Dutch people here.

Good point. I personally use those references to order the exact same parts from a shop i choose. Sometimes from the Netherlands, sometimes abroad.

Me to. But while doing so we 'hide' information from non dutch-speakers. I think that is a big no-no.

[glow]edit;[/glow] You also restrict yourself to knowledge from dutch-speaking 'arduinoists'. Let's face it; there are more non-dutch speaking people here than dutch-speaking ones.

If you came this far i don't think that will be a problem. I find the community here fairly forgiving as it comes to use of language. (i rely heavily on spelling check in firefox)

Yep, they are everywhere! :)

Not really. I also would read and discuss in English topics.

Maybe we should create a page on the Forum (or the Playground) with "country related" items, e.g. recommended shops in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, ... even Italy :) and the anglo-saxon countries.

Such an item should comprise:
- area of expertise or activities
- name and full address
- phone or email
- recommendations by Forum members (maybe use the poll for this?)

Creating sub-fora is excellent for non-English speaking members, but I find it rather annoying to see the same problems/solutions scattered over the sub-fora in French, German, ... which I try to keep up with.

I would love to make a dutch forum on my own website if it would be used...

But there are so few of us dutch people that can't read and (maybe crappy) write english.
and if all the dutch people here have questions and can't explain there selfs just ask in your best english and try to get me or anny other dutch guy to help... or start your topic with [NL] or something

or even better try to explain it in english and dutch so that if i see it i can correct your error's so that everybody gets it.

and i want to point out that if i don't understand something that was found in the french or anny other country u could just use google tanslate to translate the whole page.
it's not that great in translating story's or explainations but if your keep in mind google translates (almost) everything literally.
Then its acceptable.

I think my english is quite good.
of course i make misstake's but hé i'm a dutch blond girl... :P

There used to be a BeNeLux mailing list. Not sure if it still exists, I haven´t been receiving any mails for over almost 2 years.

CrashingDutchman

I just send an email to the Benelux Mailing list and it returned with a ´quota exceeded´ error.

Nearly every place on the internet is swarming with dutchies...
For such a small country, we sure have an obvious web-pressence =)

Yot

If there is money (to be earned or saved) there will be dutchies!

:)
