Does anyone know what this image is?

I think it is a GPS monitor.

Thoughts?

OPs Pic.

It looks like a GPS onboard.
Possibly a breakout board? ?
This may help.

Try    google   gtop010 gps arduino

Tom.. :)
Everything runs on smoke, let the smoke out, it stops running....

Thanks Tom.

What are some common applications for a GPS onboard or breakout board?

I don't see this product for sale anywhere so I am more curious as to the origins.

Hi, mate.
Looking closely it looks like a phone jack/socket at the top.
The method of getting data from the GPS is serial communication, so the socket is possibly the way you obtain any data.
In this form you can custom make any device you like that needs a GPS connected to it, either for position, velocity, altitude even time keeping.
It looks like its made for some purpose in particular with the suction cup fixture on one end.
Where did you find/buy it?

My friend found it underneath his bed with the light blinking.

Thinks someone might have been tracking him, but not sure how that could be since it was in a stationary position under the bed.

Light blinking??
What is on the other side, a battery?
It could be a logging tracker if there is some controller and memory on board, someone would plug their PC into the socket and download anything stored.

Yep, light was blinking.  Not sure if there is a battery on the other side.

Logging tracker, as in listening device?

That Gtop010 looks very much like a stand alone GPS module

Hi,
That it is a vehicle tracking device.

GTPA010 MT3339 PA6C G.top010 FGPMMOPA6C 10009-PA6C-V02 GPS Standalone Module

Maybe they are tracking his bed.

BabyGeezer

Maybe they are tracking his bed.
for bed movement, you'd think it would be *on* the bed (frame) rather than just under it.

sloppy spy-work if indeed it is ! :D

ElCaron

Let him check if there is a hidden microphone under his car.

Zapro

Everyone here is focusing on the GPS-"Brick" - That part isn't interesting and would not tell any useful about this device.

What is interesting is what is on the other side of the PCB - Battery, GSM, Microphone, MicroSD etc.?
