Topic: Compression library for ESP8266 (Read 349 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi,

Can you please advise if there any text file compression library that I can use on ESP8266?

Files are purely text (human readable log files) and size is up to 40Kb.

Thanks.

The best compression is not writing data. This can be done by minimizing your messages.

Instead of "There is an Error while opening the file"
write "E: fopen"

Timestamps can be shortened by writing the date part only the first time AND when the date has changed of course.

Compression libraries need dictionaries and they take a fair amount of RAM

Repeating same message is also a "storage hog"

Hope this helps,
